The Phishmonger Seems a Bit Phishy
Who is the Phishmonger?
Greetings,
Welcome to Seems a Bit Phishy. I am the Phishmonger, a doctoral student and information security professional. This blog is a requirement of one of my doctoral courses. The course is meant for the student to discuss futuring and innovation in information technology. The topic of phishing is relevant as current trends show that the future is going to still be a bit phishy.
Something Phishy
The purpose of this blog is to be able to post my rants on the topic of phishing. This particular method of social engineering is the most effective method of attack to breach security (Yang et al, 2022). While it is not expected for this to blog to be read by more than an audience of one. Raising awareness can be done by shouting into the void that is the internet.
Over the next few weeks, this blog will discuss what phishing is. How phishing it done and what methods of attack are common. The history of major phishing incidents and how phishing has evolved will also make an appearance in this blog. Methods of smelling out something phishy will also be discussed.
Remember, if you smelled something fishy that should not be. Why would you trust that it is perfectly fine? If it smells phishy, it is best to throw it out.
